Passed Air Law Exams + Exercise 9

not to brag but I passed my airlaw exam 100% on first go, took about 15 minutes.

As it's my first exam it's worth noting that After setting up the exam service in CAA’s portal, There won't be any need to book thru there. Actual exam is scheduled with my training org and they take my payment. The results are available immediately on CAA portal.

Back to exams, my experiment with easyppl only shows it works, I felt I learned the most using easyppl and passing it's own mock test multiple time have me the most confidence. It may not be necessary to buy full text books. During learning of the materials, I felt it was most beneficial to make notes, even copying them makes it easier to commit to memory.

During the evening 8.30pm I subscribed to Easy’s operating procedures course, and onwards to the next paper.

Having completed the exam too early, i had time to spare before my next flight lesson. Got chatting with Jeff, a (I assumed at the least) PPL-holder with over 40 type ratings and over 40 years of experience. Wish I had more time in the future to hear more of his stories.

So, Ex 9: turning is exciting! Practiced many left and right turns with rudder balancing over Grafham waters! I wasn’t able to control the aircraft’s balance this day, rudder control was all over the place and frequently overshooting it causing some slip. to help me, Andy my instructor demonstrated the rudder balance practice, where we focused on a distance point and rolling the aircraft left, then right in swift motion, while using the rudder to complement. If done right, the point we focused on should stay still in relation to our focussed gaze.

Suffice to say the rocking motion really got to me, felt very quesy during and after the rudder balance practice… I kept it down but boy it was hard.

As before upon reaching the end of my lesson Andy instructed me back towards the aerodrome. What he didn't was to asked back control, instead talked me into a descend and approached runway 33 and thru to landing! So….yeah I landed a plane.

G-BAEP (Echo Papa) is a Cessna 150 and a variant that can perform aerobatics. The extra feature it has are the 2 pull tabs (in red on left and right), once pulled it’ll release the doors to allow for a parachuted pilot (hopefully passenger too) to escape in an emergency.

Yours truly decided the day was too warm for proper attire, hence the bare knees on show (and double chin reflected on Cessna plate on dash).
